FAQ

Do you have questions about the tournament? You’re not alone!

Why is the entry fee separate?
Your entry fee of $1,500 per team is a tax-deductible gift to the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation’s Scholarship Fund. It is recommended that each pro pays $150 and each amateur pays $450. A receipt for tax purposes will be issued to each player based on their entry fee, or to whomever on the team pays the entire entry fee.

What is included in the package?
The package fee includes your costs for hotel room (shared or individual), the opening night reception, your green fees for each round, your base caddie fee (one caddie for every two players) per round, optional lunch after Round One, banquet dinner on Day Two, and Final Round lunch and awards ceremony. All bars are hosted. Caddie’s tips are the responsibility of each player.

Is the package fee deductible?
No. It covers the costs of your stay.

Can I bring a team of four amateurs?
This tournament is a team competition, which celebrates our PGA professionals as integral partners in our golf lives.  For competition to be fair to all, a PGA professional is needed on each team.

I am a 21 handicap. Why do I have to play down to an 18?
Some teams will undoubtedly have players whose handicap is greater than 18.  All teams will be limited to 18 strokes per amateur so, as a team event, all teams will be treated the same.  For our format on the final day, awarding no more than 1 stroke is preferred.

If I fly to Monterey, is there transportation provided?
Yes. If you fly commercial to Monterey Regional Airport (MRY), Pebble Beach Resorts will provide complimentary pick-up and delivery from the Monterey terminal to The Inn at Spanish Bay.  A driver holding a Pebble Beach Resort sign should greet you upon arrival in the terminal at baggage claim.  Reservations are required with 72 hours notice; please call (831) 649-7606. If you fly private, Pebble Beach Resorts will also provide transportation for a fee to and from both Del Monte Aviation and The Monterey Jet Center. Reservations are required with 72 hours notice; please call (831) 649-7606.

Do I need transportation during the trip?
Pebble Beach Resorts provides complimentary shuttle service between The Inn at Spanish Bay and The Lodge, and also between the hotels and the golf courses.

May I bring a spouse or significant other?
The program has been designed for four players — three amateurs and one professional per team. The package for Pebble Beach resorts reflects that and the costs are designed to fund the professional, with fees paid and shared by the three amateurs.
However, if a player or professional wants to include a spouse or significant other, they will be welcome to our opening night reception and/or to our Sunday night banquet. There will be no additional charges for a guest to accompany a team member to our opening night reception (Saturday night). However, there will be a charge of $250.00 per additional guest for the Sunday night banquet. Reservations for your guest need to be made in advance to assure that we have the correct count for Sunday night’s dinner, and payment must be made to the Legistics registration site, prior to Tuesday, March 1st. (Our guarantee for meals is due to Pebble Beach on Wednesday, March 2nd.)

Is this event a fundraiser?
Yes, very much so. The tournament is based on Comaraderie, Competition and Charity. Each team’s entry fee of $1,500 is the seed money for our giving.  With 20 teams, that provides $30,000. Our goal for 2022 was $250,000. On our banquet night, you will be informed about the activities of the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation and specifically about the Scholarship Program and our scholars. We hope to raise $100,000-110,000 from our eighty players, which will be augmented by our generous matching partners, enabling us to achieve our goal.
