The 13th annual COPi Cup Invitational Pro-Am presented by Legistics once again demonstrated the power of our three C’s — “Camaraderie, Competition and Charity” — with a $300,000 addition to the scholarship fund of the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation.
The annual tournament’s total to date? Almost $2.4 million to help fund scholarships for young students pursuing higher education, with many the first in their families to attend college.
Thanks to the incredible success of this event, the Foundation will expand its funding for 2025–2026, pursue further partnership for post-secondary educational opportunities for Foundation Scholars and SCGA Juniors, and invest in the COPi Cup Endowment.

COPi Cup founder Phil Frengs says, “This tournament is more than just golf. The COPi Cup is special because we’re able to get together as a community and support the future generation of Southern Californians.”
De La Rosa 5-peats while Palos Verdes GC takes home the tournament title
Marcus De La Rosa, PGA, who led one of Santa Ana CC’s three COPi Cup teams, finished the event at 6 under par and is the COPi Cup’s 5-time consecutive individual trophy winner!
At 23 under par, the Palos Verdes GC team captained by Jim Gormley, PGA, prevailed over Santa Ana CC in a scorecard playoff (or “card-off”) for an exciting late afternoon finish. Amateur PVGC players were Jeff DeLarme, Mike McKay and Ryan Tocicki.

“This year’s COPi Cup was extraordinary, as always,” said SCGA Junior Golf Foundation Executive Director Kevin Gigax. “Knowing our supporters are invested in our mission and are excited to help our scholars is incredibly heartwarming. We’re already looking forward to next year.”
Joshlyn Ayala, the Foundation’s 2025 COPi Cup scholar and longtime SCGA Junior participant, reflected on the impact that the Foundation has made on her life and educational journey in this incredible video that was shown at the event.
